QuarkXPress™

Instructions for QuarkXPress 7

These instructions apply specifically to QuarkXPress 7.
For QuarkXPress versions below 7, please see below.

QuarkXPress 7 has built-in PDF/X-1a capability. This is available under File->Edit.

1. Before you can start exporting PDF/X-compliant PDFs, you must set up a proper output style. Go to Edit->Output Styles Screenshot

2. Choose PDF from the "New" button at the bottom. Screenshot

3. Name the new output style (PDF/X is fine). From the "Verification" menu, choose PDF/X1-a: 2001. Screenshot

4. Click Save, and you should have a new PDF Output Style from which to choose when you are ready to export your PDF. Screenshot

You can now go to File->Export and choose PDF. Choose your new PDF/X Output Style, and save the PDF to your Desktop (or where ever you wish).

Instructions for QuarkXPress 6 and lower

1. Download our Quark template from the Product page for the item you are ordering. Use the template to create a new file, or place your existing document within the template. [Templates Page]

Advanced Users Note: If you are familiar with PDF workflows, you may proceed without a template. However, please scrutinize your artwork in the cropping tool.

2. Carefully follow all the guidelines for All Applications.

3. Print a laser or inkjet proof for a final internal check, then Save Page as EPS: Screenshot

4. On the Save Page as EPS window, set format to Color, Space to CMYK, Preview to PICT and Data to Binary: Screenshot

5. In the Bleed tab, set the bleed amount to 0. Screenshot

6. In the OPI tab, turn the OPI Active button off. Screenshot

7. Your file is now ready to distill to PDF. See Adobe Acrobat instructions.

Important: QuarkXPress EPS files with fonts cannot be directly uploaded to our site. You must create a PDF with fonts embedded or create a Postscript file.
